Boost Juice
Success Story
Blending a Fresh Start into a National Brand
In 2002, Janine Allis saw something in California that sparked an idea: vibrant juice bars where health met great taste. She brought that vision back to Adelaide and opened the first Boost Juice store in May that year.
Boost quickly became known for its colourful menu of fruit and vegetable juices, smoothies, muffins, and yogurt, all with added vitamin boosts. More than just a juice bar, the brand built a culture around energy, experience, and making healthy choices feel good.
After opening a second company-owned store, the question became clear: how do you take something this good and share it with the rest of Australia?
From 2 Stores to 370+ Locations Across Australia
What Stood in the Way
The key challenges for Boost Juice were:
The company was established in only 2 locations in South Australia.
It had an opportunity for rapid growth to 200 stores across Australia.
Other competitors were already in multiple locations.
Large food service businesses were developing new concepts to compete in this category.
Substantial capital was required to achieve growth objectives.
The proprietor operated the business from a home office in Melbourne, away from the two retail outlets in Adelaide.
Strategic Support for Boost Juice’s Growth
DC Strategy was engaged to develop a business plan and strategy for growth. A franchise strategy was developed and the financial, legal and administrative structure and franchise program to facilitate growth were formulated.
Developing a Scalable Franchise Model: Developed a comprehensive business plan and franchise strategy to define the growth model, creating a franchise program built for sustainable expansion.
Navigating Legal Requirements: DC Strategy created the full suite of franchise documentation and legal frameworks to ensure compliance and scalability.
Targeted Recruitment and Marketing: Executed strategic campaigns to attract franchisees aligned with Boost's energetic brand culture and commitment to healthy living.
Ongoing Strategic Support: Delivered practical support and expert guidance to help the brand navigate challenges, strengthen operations and pursue new opportunities as the network expanded.
We started with two stores in Adelaide and needed a clear path to scale nationally. DC Strategy developed our franchise model, handled the legal structure, and helped us recruit the right partners. Today, Boost Juice has grown to over 370 locations in Australia and stores in 13 countries. That foundation they built is still what we run on.
